Topic: In a nationwide tragedy, nearly 100 people have been killed in the United States today

Nearly 100 Americans are dead today after they died in fatal automobile accidents across the nation. This happens literally every single day in our country, this year more than 30,000 Americans will die horrible deaths in automobile accidents, another 2,000,000 will be seriously injured. These 7000lb 4WD Assault Vehicles are becoming far too common in our communities, and you really have to wonder... why aren't our politicians doing anything about this?

Nobody is asking you to "give up your cars", by the way... we just need some common-sense vehicle control in this nation. Mental health and wellness checks before someone can go out and buy a vehicle, 20 page applications to make sure that person has a legitimate need for that vehicle... just
common sense measures to keep our citizens safe from those that would senselessly put them in harm's way

There hasn't been a real discussion about "Common-sense Vehicle Control" even after several incidents where terrorists have driven vans and trucks into crowds... happens about as often as mass shootings... so much for your theory.

No, you misunderstand. I am saying that, if there were as many car crowd runs as there are mass shootings, we could absolutely regulate cars more.
> The world DOES function without care, but the US is the exception.
And why is the US the exception? If the US is the exception, then we should stop allowing the other countries have them since there's no need for them?

It depends on the thing. We need cars to function, so we allow a mitigated risk. What we do not need to function, is semi-automatic rifles while standing in line for Subway.

And you don't need a 7600lb truck to grab groceries at the store down the road. But again, you're refusing to see the parallels, because it's the thing you like

Now justify your personal vehicle, fill out a 40 page form and submit it to the government... now wait the 10 day waiting period to have your driving license reinstated... go have your mental and physical health checked beforehand, they'll need triplicate copies of the doctor's signed permission slip or you'll be denied. Those japanese cars go really fast, you know... it's for the children. Who needs all that speed? What are you using it for? It had better be justified by an immediate and pressing need. We deny applications all day if they're asking for a super-car permit when an NEV or E-bike can serve their need. It's not too harsh, it's for the safety of our citizens

Mental health checks, 14 day waiting periods, can't buy a car at a car show... we haven't gone far enough considering how deadly and dangerous these vehicles can be in the wrong hands

100 people every single day, dead from automobile accidents in the United States...let me know when there's a Columbine every day. There aren't as many mass shootings as you're implying

Again, we take a mitigated risk with cars because we require them to function. Also, 320 shootings per day in the US. Most countries have none.

Doesn't seem very mitigated... 100 deaths every day, over 32,000 dead per year! 2,000,000 Americans severely injured!! Why can't you just walk to the corner grocery store like a normal, ethical person? The US is the only nation where you "require a car to function", if every other country can figure it out... 🤔

An automobile was invented to transport
A firearm was invented to kill
Please quit using this as a comparison. It shows a lack of concept in your futile arguments. Find something else that was invented to kill with if you want to compare to a firearm.
