As for a famous Japanese person who actually did die, Kazuki Takahashi just died in a snorkeling accident a couple days ago :( Creator of Yu-Gi-Oh, which was a huge part of my life in the early 2000s. I'm very rarely upset about celebrity deaths, because they're strangers so why would it affect me, but this made me genuinely sad.

This alleged death of some random Jap no one cares about was clearly just a pretext to cover up the true tragedy, which is the loss of Oprah Winfrey's father Vernon Winfrey (rip, pbuh).
