The police are not any better in the UK. Sure, it is not exactly the same as the US, but there are more trade-offs, rights, and protections than you might think and it makes UK vs US comparisons a bit of a wash and kind of stupid. For example, the UK has very weak double jeopardy protections. Another example, all the spying you have in the US is also present in the UK, and then some. London has one of the highest rates of video surveillance in the world.

The thing about video surveillance is when they add up the cameras they also include privately owned cameras in shops and private property.
