They also ruled that you can't ask for a retrial on basis of poor representation

Nothing's preventing your state from regulating your own emissions. Nothing's preventing you from regulating your own emissions.

lol few of you are old enough to remember when pollution in the US was really bad, like you could not see the next building in LA and the Cleveland, Ohio river caught fire.. The EPA with MANY of its policies has changed that drastically in my lifetime. You will see what happens. It is a shame when people are so blind to history and science.

I feel like it might be the opposite of fascism. Isn't fascism all about a strong central government reducing all power to itself?

What is preventing the states from doing this? What is preventing California, the state with the most regulations of all, from protecting LA and the environment, as they already are?

We know what happens when "states' rights" are the only authority.

Yes, and backwards states do not, so the country gets polluted again, and climate change gets worse.

At least when it comes to death penalty cases, I'm not sure if it extends to all cases.

Then people can vote with their feet and leave those states. In addition to, you know, actually voting as well.

I've heard Louisiana is among them. Being the most polluted in the world. Actually, one portion of the state has the highest cancer rates in the country due to oil refining. Everyone making money from oil is criminal. And anyone who's gotten money from oil, inheritance or otherwise, should be in prison.

No, pollution is everywhere, and people should not HAVE TO leave their state just because their politicians are idiots. Also, many people cannot AFFORD to move.

But what about China? Should we force our environmental regulations on them? Why should we think we know better than them?
Because they are arbitrarily designated as a "country" and not a "state" justifies giving them free reign to destroy the earth?

As long as countries have sovereignty, then no, we cannot. What we can do, however, is make sure our country is as non-polluted as we can.

Is the distinction between a country and a state not arbitrary? If so, under what grounds are we to respect it?
Anonymous A (OP) replied with this 4 years ago, 1 minute later, 4 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,182,044
@previous (D)
I did not say we have to respect it, but if we do not, then other countries will use military force to enforce it.
