What causes it? Why do people that have it provoke such reactions of disgust and repulsion in us all? These are questions I was reminded of recently.
The world is a funny place. While it never gives answers directly, it often has a tendency to point and say, "look over here", providing direct clues to anyone careful enough to recognize them. Little did I know these clues have been here all along, hiding in plain sight as it were. The clues and consequences of a chronic and severe case of arrested development has presented itself quite clearly: in Kook's posting history and life story.
Let's unpack. Although, hang with me, we'll need several posts to lay this out. There's much ground to cover.

It's not that Kook is unique in having not mentally developed whatsoever. Hell, you can scarcely find a topic here at all that does not have numerous examples of arrested development, with each mentally stunted member joining in sequence, forming a caravan of idiots embarking on an irreversible trip ending with the conversation overflowing with anger, hate, emotion, and childishness in every way. No, it's not that Kook's unique, it's that she's ordinary, and I'd dare say, extra-ordinary (but let's not get ahead of ourselves, more on this later).
In fact, there are people here that are even less emotionally developed than Kook (believe it or not). But the difference is how it's expressed. To give but one example: excessive consumption of alcohol can, surprisingly, mask the full effects of child-like mental states. It results in a state so absurd it becomes comical, even. Not so with Kook. This is no laughing matter. With Kook's years of mental negligence, this arrested state of affairs has developed into the full-blown malignancy that it is.

A number of people have asked me, over the years, "do you hate Kook?" to which I have always emphatically denied. But it does beg the question: how could anyone respect such a pathetic excuse for a human? It's simple. Consider a small puppy. In playing with the puppy, you might find that the dog occasionally growls at you. Do you take this as an affront? No, of course not. Such a young puppy doesn't even have the capacity to experience anger in any substantial way. So when a puppy does something like growl or bite you, you know there's not much to it. No real depth.
Now to be fair, the analogy doesn't exactly fit for Kook. Unlike a puppy, that wags its tail when you pet it and has a consistent emotional response, as limited as it may be. Not so with Kook. With Kook, the same situation can elicit widely divergent responses. From this, we are forced to conclude that Kook's mental capacity is, in some sense, even less than that of a small dog.

Let's look at an example. On one occasion, Kook was provoked to anger (as most discussions go...), by someone calmly expressing an opinion on whether or not a trans women "passed". This person clearly had the wrong opinion because Kook was provoked to go into a long womensplaining rant about how being polite to a stranger on the internet could get the recipient killed. Yet, on another occasion, Kook decided that someone doing a little truth telling is something that should get this teller killed.
What is going on here? Look beyond Kook's erection of innumerable strawmen, faux pases, fallacies, and emotionally distraught language, we can boil down this to the essentials. When you build your entire identity based on cognitive dissonance, everything can be seen as a direct challenge, even if the topic of discussion involves you tangentially, through a perceived friendship, even. Because the simplest of logic or deduction could swiftly bring the entire card house of your identity down.
But why would someone build such a fragile identity? Simple. When one is socially dysfunctional enough that people treat you nicely no matter the context (like some type of mental defective, or cripple, that everyone's scared to offend), one is then led to a sense that something is not quite right. And, lacking a certain intelligence, this can be misunderstood as a suggestion that one is unique, or "eccentric", when no such thing is true. Run with this for several decades and what you get is someone who identifies and takes a superficial interest in all types of obscure and esoteric topics. Layers and layers of sub-conscious smoke screens to provide a circular justification for being weird, that is, simply, socially dysfunctional.
With this poor mental hygiene, one can be led to develop a highly aggressive, abrasive, and argumentative personality while still seeing oneself as somehow feminine. Examples abound.

You don't need to go far to find painfully awkward examples of Kook's social dysfunction. Take for instance her constant harassment of one of the young, urban, barristers we have here to call Kook, despite this individual never showing anything but polite deflections to someone who can't take a hint. It's always such a train-wreck to watch. That a highly educated individual with an interesting and engaging professional and social life, would be interested in talking with a middle aged woman from a backwoods state posting on an even more backwoods internet forum, whose life experience has consisted not much more than wiping geriatric shitholes, is a complete absurdity.
In some ways, it's good that Kook has mostly worked with senior citizens. It's not that I think Kook shouldn't be around children, as I think of some members here, it's that I think she shouldn't be around anyone. Her personality too unstable, too undeveloped, too volatile, to find a place within civilized society. It's too bad for her, and even more so for those unfortunate enough to live around her. But, in a morbid way, it's good that she exists. As uncomfortable as it is to witness, she's a sick parody of what it means to be human and from this we can learn.

Try to read more carefully: > When one is socially dysfunctional enough that people treat you nicely no matter the context (like some type of mental defective, or cripple, that everyone's scared to offend), one is then led to a sense that something is not quite right. And, lacking a certain intelligence, this can be misunderstood as a suggestion that one is unique, or "eccentric", when no such thing is true.
> Like a big city lawyer with one of them fancy degrees? Urban?
What exactly are you asking? You seem to know enough language to ask a question, but not enough to know what you're asking.

What in my posts is wrong, misleading, or incorrect? Let's discuss this point by point. I'm assuming you are interested in a discussion and don't want to continue using bad faith arguments, like others ITT. But I know I'm likely wrong on this.

Which degrees? Be specific. And from which institutions? There are a lot of diploma mills out there these days, some that are even brick and mortar.

There's one user here, I even mentioned him earlier in one of my posts ITT, who goes around bragging about a degree he took 35 years to get from a diploma mill located in the deep south. Is that you?
Anonymous B replied with this 3 years ago, 4 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,181,665
@previous (A)
No. I never attended a "diploma mill", and also, no university would allow someone to break there for 35 years without a degree. That is an absurd notion.
-Have you gone around for years frequently mentioning your degree in an attempt to win arguments and gain respect (i.e., bragging about your degree)?
-Did you get your degrees from a university south of the Mason-Dixon line?
-Does your university have an acceptance rate of 1% like Harvard, or does it accept anyone who can manage to fill out the application (and, most importantly, pay them)?

Wait, are you the guy that got his email hacked and got a bunch of shit to his PhD program, causing him to be kicked out? Because that's fucking dumb, dude.

How would you know who I am? How in the world could you know that? Also, I can assure you that I have absolutely never been "kicked out of a PhD program".

@1,181,675 (B)
So, are you saying you've never been in a PhD program or are you claiming that you have a PhD? Which of the two?
How could I know any of this? Quite simply, I don't. That's why I've been asking questions. But when you suddenly refuse to answer and take part in the discussion we've been having, it leads me to think there's a reason for this. It leads me to think that I'm not far off in my speculations.
I'm happy to be proved wrong. And if I am shown to be wrong, I will humbly and personally apologize. But I find it highly unlikely that I am.

I've provided multiple examples, so many that I could not even fit them into a single post. I could've written a full book and you'd still claim I never posts recipts.
And in return, how do you respond? You post one line responses completely detached and unrelated to any of the arguments at hand. In short, you respond in exactly the way I've described you in my posts here.

I wouldn't say that I'm holding Kook accountable for anything, nor do I think that I could, due to her (probable) insufficient mental capacity for such an idea to even make sense.
What I want to do here is think and talk about what causes so many people, especially on MC, to be permanently frozen in their mental development. To never grow and never learn. To insist on making bad faith arguments and forming bad faith opinions, views, and beliefs about the world. To remain forever a child.
We recently had a discussion about another user here, a compatriot of one of the users I mentioned earlier ITT, who checks most of the boxes above. In the ensuring "discussion", I realized there were more general insights to be learned and a better candidate to learn from, hence the creation of this thread.
I could've just as well chosen to frame the discussion and provide examples based on the outline of another well-known member of this community (in fact, I believe (but don't know!!) that he's already participating in this thread in his usual capacity). But I didn't frame the discussion about this user because he has a problem with alcohol (runs in his family) and that truly clouds the core elements I wanted to dissect here.
