I've seen it several times over the years, and one year it was especially spectacular. Grab some alcohol and head for the hills, enjoy the show.

Yup! Best viewed at around 3 am till dawn. One time when I was about 18 I was drinking at a hotel party, I went outside to smoke a cigarette and get some fresh air and saw this shower, it was the most beautiful shower I've ever seen that year, I stayed outside drinking and watching it until the sun came up. I didn't realize until years later it had to be this shower that I saw.

As long as you have clear skies. You have to wait for Perseus to rise though, so after around midnight-1am 3am should be good viewing.

As long as you are in the northern hemisphere, you're fine. The full moon will be a bit of a problem, so either plan on staying up past 3am when the moon should be well on it's way to setting or getting up extra early around the same time.

Nah I meant the differences between a 1 and 2 are very subtle, just a dozen or so stars. There certainly are 1 skies around, but generally not where people live. They build observatories in the deserts and Antarctica for a reason. My old house was about 5 minutes from an observatory, and it was still a 2 at best. http://www.askconline.org/powell.htm

Certainly you were a 5 with that moon, that's a harvest moon, exceptionally bright. Next year should be good even at a 3 or 4. In the right conditions you an easily see over 100 per hour.
