Cops kill fewer people per capita in countries like the UK, Australia, etc. that have very low gun ownership rates compared to the U.S. If no one has guns then cops are less likely to be on edge, because their lives are at considerably less risk. This is why historically cops in the U.S. have supported gun control (until recently when they became partisan Republicans).

Yes I know what cops do when the population they are policing is armed. I want to know what kind of policing is happening in comparable countries to the US except their populations are less armed. Is that policing more or less abusive?

What percentage of US police shootings are unjustifiable (ie victim was unarmed and posed no real threat to police/others)? Is it 1%? 10%?

So cops in countries with few guns are not, on the whole, more abusive than cops in a country with a lot of guns. What is the benefit of an armed populace then? The cost is dozens of elementary school children murdered in cold blood, which is more than I personally am comfortable paying.

Cops say literally everything poses a threat to them. Little old lady in a wheelchair? Threat. Dog on a leash? Threat. You'll never get an accurate number but I'm sure there are ballpark estimates out there.
The armed/unarmed policing shooting distinction is sort of my point. If fewer people owned guns, then fewer cops would encounter people with guns that they feel threatened by and need to shoot.

You could use the FOIA to request all the relevant reports and decide on a metric by which to determine if an officer involved shooting was justified or unjustified. It's ridiculous to just throw your hands up and say you can never have an statistic
