I prefer the city because everything I need is close to me. If I really need something from one of the giant sprawl-marts, I have to go out to the suburbs to find it. This self-imposed barrier prevents me from wasting time and money on quick expendables.
My commute is a 5-minute bike ride, a 10-minute bus ride, or a 30-minute walk. I love that.
