The urban landscapes were much prettier and way more friendly to pedestrian lifestyles. It was definitely way more hostile in almost every other respect, but the car dependency today is just deranged and autistic.

Detroit was a world class city, but it got torn down and abandoned. White cowards fled to the suburbs and salted the earth, depending on automobiles and oil to survive. That was a terrible mistake.

Highways were a big mistake. Dangerous, ugly, bad for the environment. Not to mention the rise of violent crime in America correlated perfectly with the use of leaded gasoline.
