Topic: SCOTUS Ruling will NOT make Abortion Illegal.

Anonymous A started this discussion 3 years ago #103,793

Overturning Row vs Wade will not make abortion illegal in the U.S..
What overturning it Will do is disestablish abortion as a Constitutional Right and turn the question of the legality of abortion over to individual states.

R v W was legislation from the bench. A violation of the constitutional balance of powers in the U.S. federal government.
It did NOT establish any limits on when a medical abortion can be performed or even if the termination of a baby can be called an abortion Post Birth!

The democRATS are playing this up as a violation of women's right (I'd love to talk about that a LOT MORE) and pushing the notion that SCOTUS could overturn same sex marriage and interracial marriage. No Doubt hoping that there are enough people to believe such nonsense.

For what it's worth, same sex marriage and interracial marriage is a contract between two people. Abortion involves a third party that has no voice in the decision.

Furthermore, the only precedent in law that could apply to R v W. is the Dred Scott decision.

And all the far right states will end up outlawing it, except maybe Oregon. Thanks.

And as we know from the history of the southern states, when issues are left to the states to decide, great things happen.

The majority of abortions these days happen using medicine. All newly pregnant women need to do is find a source of these baby killer pills. I have trouble believing that there won't be a source of baby killer pills made available. It may be illegal but it's guaranteed to happen.

Oregon is mostly red though, look at the demographics. The blue is just Portland and Salem and a bit of Eugene/Springfield

But also not far right

You could say the same thing about America as a whole. Most of the land is either totally uninhabited or sparsely inhabited.

Ok, what kind of evidence is irrefutable? Anything means anything if you dilute the point enough

I'm not trying to refute anything. I just find the fractal nature of America interesting. Most states (Texas included!) are like a little miniature version of the country as a whole with a handful of densely populated left-leaning cities and a bunch of empty, heavily conservative rural areas. So you live in a blue state but most of the actual land area is red and it's only the major cities that's blue.
