You might think that someone who adopts the name Whoopi 'Goldberg" would try to learn something about Jews. Well obviously Caryn Johnson (whoopi's) birth name didn't want to bother with such things.
Her insistence (before being forced to apologize) that the Holocaust wasn't about race has her standing in the corner of the class room wearing a dunce cap for two weeks to "Think About What She Said".
Not being A Jew myself, and having little snowflake like "sensitivity" my interest/amusement in this subject is in basic history and anthropology.
To start with we have to go back to the origins of the Semitic people. While obviously the majority of Jews in the U.S. today are European in appearance, the Semitic people in the time of Moses looked far more middle eastern with darker complexions,dark brown hair and eyes etc. They were primarily a nomadic people. The original Semitic bloodline almost certainly diluted by contact with northern European Caucasians. Needless to say that the History "Jesus" probably didn't look very much like the young Auburn haired German man in the Sacred Heart painting. Since very few people on earth can claim Pedigree Ancestry, (pure anything) Jews today are basically identified as a Religion or ethnic group.
But Now For The Historic Aspect.
Perhaps if Caryn "Goldberg" Johnson had paid attention in school, she might have noticed that the Nazis were in fact Genocidal Racist in concept. They operated on the concept of a PERFECT Caucasian super race ie: The Aryan race.
The Aryan race is an obsolete historical race concept which emerged in the late 19th century to describe people of Indo-European heritage as a racial grouping. The theory has been widely rejected and disproved since no anthropological, historical or archaeological evidence exists.
The Core of the Nazi belief was in the Aryan Super Race/Master Race and that they were intended to rule the world. In Germany, the Jews were their primary target for extermination ,partially because of their economic success and in point of fact, Germany was not the first place in Europe where this was the case. However, it was the most extreme. Furthermore, the Holocaust ,see today as the extermination of 6 million Jews is only part of the story. 4 million Poles were also exterminated along with perhaps a hundred thousand Gypsies, Homosexuals and German distends. Literally Anyone the Nazis considered Racially Inferior.
