It does not contain an emulsifier, so it's like shaking a bottle of milk to temporarily homogenize it.

A vinaigrette, a true French one, contains mustard, which is an emulsifier. Thanks. Your USAmerican vinaigrettes, bottles and processed, may not contain it.
