Topic: Should a pet's food and water bowls be close together?

Is it rude to have them in separate spots? Do pets want to eat and drink at the same time, or is that a human construct?

Ideally for cats they should be apart because of the instinct that cats don't like to eat near a water source.

I don't think it matters that much for cats. Or even dogs, for that matter. Rarely are their food and water source in the same place, in the wild.
