Huh, weird. That seems to be right. I was asked for an ID each time. Maybe for insurance billing purposes? I guess you can just wander in and get a jab. I did not know that. Maybe I'll get a second booster soon then. I've also been around people who are immunocompromised a lot, so it might be a good idea.

Could be. Could also be related to the state you got it in or even when. I don't think they cared when I went since I think the state, if not also the federal government, would've covered the costs even without insurance.

That was my thought. They don't check ID here but they do ask your name and look up your NHS record. Quite strange if Germany doesn't do something similar.

Looking over the CDC federal guidelines and those for individual states, I think you're right. They all seem to have made an exception in the face of a worldwide pandemic. I probably could have done what this guy did in the US, even though I didn't think I could. American healthcare is such a fucking shitshow. I'm so used to having to prove that I have insurance and that this is a hospital or pharmacy covered in my network, that I never even thought about the idea of not providing my ID, insurance info, employer, papers, proof of citizenship, etc.
I just assumed Europe would have some more evolved, centralized, and organized system for doing this. I guess they don't.
Anyway, I wish good health to the German gentleman implicated in this scheme. Shame on him for doing it, but maybe he's incidentally proved something about vaccines in the mean time.
