About 25 years ago I met a woman in a support group for the illness we both had. We talked a bit and knew something about each other to a degree. She invited me to come over to her place, not as a date, but just to hang out. She lived alone and had a dog (which I hate, by the way). She was a chain smoker. That means once her cigarette was over, she lit another one. I absolutely hate being around smokers so you can imagine how unpleasant the whole experience was. Also she was on a low income and tax on cigarettes was relatively high back then. So she was burning through the money on cigarettes, living alone and paying rent on her own. She had a part-time job but I don't think her income was very high.
She told me about her ex-partner. They'd broken up. I think that he was slightly abusive to some degree. She said that he'd 'decided' that they were going to live together again in a month or two. From what I could gather, she was getting money from him, to pay the rent and of course those cancer sticks she needed so frequently. I stayed a few hours and left, later on I met her again at the support group meeting and I couldn't stand close to her due to awful smell of cigarettes, even though she wasn't smoking at the time. It was just a cloud that surrounded her, about 1.5 metres radius.
I wonder what happened to her. I can't remember her name. Did she stop smoking? Did she live with the guy? Did she invite me with the chance I'd be her new boyfriend who supported her cigarette addiction?

What's the point of this thread? There isn't a single interesting thing about this story and it seems no insight whatsoever was found by you. Why did you waste your time writing this and why did you waste our time by posting it?
