It sounds like it would make refueling needlessly take twice as long. I could probably get half a tank filled in the time it would take the guy to come out to my car 🤔
I've never not been to a self service station though. I guess one of the benefits of living in the 48 states that are not Oregon or New Jersey?

I mean it's probably just because somebody fucked up and somebody higher up said 'no more of that' I just don't want to get anybody in trouble

So what happens if you try to pump your own gas in Oregon? Do you need a secret password to unlock the pump? Does an attendant come out screaming at you? What's it like?

Is it one where you don't have to prepay with cash? It's.probably what you said, they might have had someone just pump their own then not pay

I lived in Colorado for two years and they had a few full service gas stations left. It was okay since you didn’t have to get out your car and they were pros at squeeging your windows and mirrors only problem was you had to tip the attendant a couple of bucks for something you could easily do yourself

That reminds me of that US state that lost their minds when they had to start filling their fuel tanks by themselves. Like the rest of the world...

that was rural counties in Oregon 3 years ago. and they don't even have to do it. it's only when there's no attendants. fuckin dumb
@1,162,050 (Meta !Sober//iZs)
my coworker said he's been yelled at about it at some particular gas stations but that's I think all there is stopping anybody

In some rural areas you can pump your gas after dark, and along certain coastal highways you can pump your own gas anytime

Nothing past a verbal interaction usually, like "got it figured out?" Or "oh yeah, it's Oregon" idk if other attendants actually get mad. It's a fine for the station that they can easily get a waiver or whatever for.
Having someone else pump your gas is only an issue if you're in a hurry when you stop into the gas station.

It's only in 2/50 states. The other 48 states, the District of Columbia, and the inhabited territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands) allow you to pump your own gas.

I wouldn't mind tipping if they checked all the fluids, tire pressure, and cleaned windows. But just cleaning up the windows? Nah.

Speaking of tipping, hotels are starting to put envelopes in rooms to collect tips for the cleaning staff. lolno
