I disagree with Most of that
Though I'm not surprised that the lecture took place at The University Of Chicago,(Egghead U.)
First because I prefer to learn from history and while the comparison of Hitler to Putin is over used, the comparison to current events clearly isn't.
The problems in Ukraine are well known, from corruption to ethnic issues , but that doesn't diminish the fact that Ukraine IS a buffer between Russia and NATO.
When logistics are considered, how is a NATO backed Ukraine on Russia's border any different from our perspective than having a Russia backed Ukraine on the border of NATO allied Poland? And how is Putin's clearly stated desire to reclaim territory that was formerly held by the USSR all that different from Hitler trying to take territory lost to Germany after WWI?
It's impossible not to see where the U.S. does take part of the blame for the Ukraine invasion Happening NOW.
After the Pissant in the White house surrendering unconditionally to the Taliban in Afghanistan ,and not to mention the biden-insanity of having Russia negotiate a new Iran nuclear deal on behave of the U.S.
Putin is a Predator and can smell the stench of Clueless joe's weakness and vulnerability . Russia and China are going to push for advantage as long as that corrupt, hair-sniffing putz is allowed to remain in office

And if he's stupid enough, or nuts enough to use them, he'll find an excuse with or without our interference in Anything.
The problem in this case , other than Putin is biden! Treating Russia as anything other than an adversary is a carry over from Clinton and 0bama.

Putin isn't sure that biden would retaliate if the U.S. was Nuked and I'm Not Sure Either!
Furthermore, if biden didn't OK the Nord Stream pipeline, Russian couldn't fund the Ukraine invasion.Putin's military is in such bad shape that it took a 40 mile long convoy 10 days to travel 80 miles. The current Russian invasion isn't like the annexing of Crimea because Crimea has little strategic value and the Crimean Tartars seem to prefer being Russians
(and have since the Charge of The Light Brigade).
biden effectively ENDING U.S. energy independence while allowing Russia to export their most valuable resource more easily and even SELL IT to the U.S. while clueless joe wrings his soft bony hands about "climate change" strengthen Putin's belief that the U.S. can be cowed into submission on virtually any subject.
I'm not advocating for direct U.S. military involvement, (at least if I'm not personally actively involved) and where I live I wouldn't die of radiation poisoning if the giant mushrooms spring up,I'll just become radioactive waste.
But I will and DO contend that because WE allowed that corrupt,simpleminded Pissant to take up residency in the White house, we have been involved in this mess since before the first Russian boot stepped on Ukraine soil.
WE put the inmates in charge of the institution and we can't afford to let it continue.
