Please look into this. They brought in people who knew actual sign language and they said Koko was signing random gibberish. Also no other handlers could communicate with her besides the one woman.
Also Koko would "rhyme" while signing, but she she would do it in the way that speaking people do, not signing people.

but Koko wasn't a deaf human, she wouldn't rhyme like one.... and I'm sure they developed their own kind of asl shorthand or something over the years that threw off some observers. I wouldn't discount Koko because most animals are at least as smart as toddlers. if a bird can do it with spoken language why shouldn't a gorilla with shorthand asl
not that incredible tbh, just Neat

ok, I found a website for children that explains that Koko used GSL (gorilla sign language) and modified ASL

Okay but she rhymed in the way that speaking people do.
Like pink and drink. That isn't how signing people do it. Signing people rhyme in hand movements that look similar.
The original woman refused to give full transcripts or tapes of their sessions. When some were discovered, it was obvious she was guessing. It was so obvious that the government pulled all funding and turned the other gorillas into lab monkeys

How in the world did they manage to turn great apes into monkeys?

There have been other cases where they gave severely autistic people keyboards and they type expressed what they were thinking by looking at images. Turns out in many of these cases, the "interpreter" was just guessing and the person was never communicating. They had become living ouija boards
In one case the intepreter was raping a severely retarded guy and went to his family and said they were in love, and it turned out he was basically braindead
