Interesting stuff, I read it after Fats posted about the Salton Sea out in California. I've never seen a better example of profits being more important than our fucking planet. Also note they did such a horrible job with the canals that they lose about 75% of the water that is so important to them, couple that with lack of crop rotation and not using a drought resistant strain of cotton, and this whole thing is a debacle of unparalleled proportions. And why the hell have we never heard about this? Media is that afraid of saying something bad about the Russians?

With difficulty. I'm less sure of the state of Russia now than the Soviet ages ago, but it seems like they need to fix their economy first.
