All people deserve to have their needs met regardless of their ability to contribute to society, and unfortunately, this includes Bert.

But why do we owe it to him? Why can't he work for it like everyone else?

I do not, in fact, commit the grammatical fallacy of the comma splice. I am I. Thanks.

No, the world does not. That being said, I believe that a society should provide a minimum subsistence to everyone, simply out of mercy.

Wouldn't that cause poop (I meant poor but want to keep that typo because its fitting) people to breed even more like rabbits on steroids? Imagine the flood of makeshift boats trying to get into Europe for our 'mercy'

Given the continuation of the human race, people already do breed like rabbits. It is a fact that will not be changed. Given that, yes, people should still be able to at least subsist in a society.

You realise that lifting 'poor' people out of poverty tends to decrease birth rates, right? It's pretty well established that there's an inverse correlation (even if it's a bit more complicated than gib money = fewer kids).

The Government here inadvertently keeps a lot of poor people poor by giving them $2000 every April for every kid they have...at tax time. Some lowlifes intentionally have children to get this money.
When a couple has three children they get a $6000 dollar check every April...and also get $700 EVERY month in 'food stamp' benefits. Then they sign up a d those kids eat lunch free at school every day. They can easily avoid spending that $700 each month for groceries by going to to get free food from Charity 'food banks' two or three times a month. That way they can 'sell' their foodie card credit to someone else.
They can also get an 100% government subsidized apartment for $0 dollars a month.

You really think $2,000 a year is living the good life?

You described fraud. Why don't you report the culprit to the police?

Because he does not actually know that. He just believes the Fox News myth.

How does giving people money keep people poor?
Why would someone have a kid just to get $2000 a year? Kids cost way more than $2000 a year. The math does not check out.
The waitlists for those subsidized apartments are years long. 3-5 year long waitlist in my area.
