Topic: it's worth explaining why emulated 8-bit games look like shit by default on today's high definition

screens. The original arcade and home games were played on cathode ray tube displays. The ordinary technology used involved something called a shadow mask that puts small dark space around the little lighted dots or rectangles. With flatter CRTs, there'd be something called an aperture grill. Anyway, the early games look blocky in a very shitty way on modern displays compared to the original CRTs that give you little glowing blocks of coloared light that were visually pleasing instead of staircase-looking blocky shit. So, with emulated early games on modern displays, you might like to see about settings to employ simulation of things like scan lines and shadow mask or aperture grill. The image might get too dark for your taste so you'd want an emulator to give the ability to adjust the effect or up the brightness of the display.
