I mean, Germany has been on top of it, as has NZ. The U.S. has generally been better per capita than Spain, Italy, France, and the UK. I don't think you should conclude from that "Trump didn't do a bad job", but that Trump and other western leaders ALL did a bad job, and whereas other countries were able to get their outbreaks more or less under control after initially bad responses, the U.S. is alone among western countries in continuing to have an awful response months later. Nowhere else in the western world is even close to us in per capita cases and deaths over the last 2 months.

I never said the US response was exceptionally good, rather I said it was not uniquely bad among developed Western countries.
It's certainly possible all of the West did a bad job, maybe due to lack of recent experience with pandemics or a tradition against literally welding people's doors shut to keep them inside. Either way, Trump (pre-Floyd Riots) didn't seem to be any worse than many other countries.
I do believe the worsening numbers in the US vs other countries are in large part due to the George Floyd riots and mass social undistancing they entailed. These hit the US harder than Europe, for obvious reasons.

If by "many other countries" you mean the like the worst 5 other similarly developed Western countries, then sure. If this is true, why do the worst-hit areas over the 2 months or so include Texas, Arizona, and Florida? They did not have especially large George Floyd protests. I don't see nearly as clear a link as you do.
