They would have all screamed and cackled about it 24 hours a day from that moment until the day of the election...when they wernt pushing the the wild conspiracy theory about him controlling the USPS to manipulate the Vote.

FDR had multiple VPs, and it was I think not super uncommon in the 1800s. There are rules and bylaws I'm sure within the Republican party that he'd have to abide by in order to change the ticket, but there is nothing in principle stopping him from doing that. He of course will not do that.

If so I think you would have a really hard time explaining why Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders won roughly a gazillion more votes from black people than Harris, Booker, etc. The fact that you would even think that betrays a fundamental lack of understanding of American politics.
