I'd quibble with the first point. Muslims had tried to blow up the WTC in 1993, also. Though they failed, the intent was clearly there. Arabs were commonly portrayed as terrorists in media pre-9/11.
Also the third point - I don't think you could call the iPhone "exciting new technology" before 9/11 because it didn't exist until 2007 ?. This is a bit like saying the Nintendo Entertainment System was "exciting new technology" in 1977. Um, no. No one was excited about the NES in 1977 because it didn't exist yet. The same with the iPhone in 2001.
Also the third point - I don't think you could call the iPhone "exciting new technology" before 9/11 because it didn't exist until 2007 ?.
