In 16 states, you must have a reason or “excuse” to request and receive an absentee ballot. Qualifying reasons vary from state to state, but voters typically have to show why they cannot physically be at the polling location, like military service or out-of-state school.

If you are genuinely worried about this, you should be apoplectic that Trump is fucking up the USPS, and that Republicans refuse to allocate more money to the post office to deal with this crisis. But...shockingly...you are not. This is the classic pattern of Republicans deliberately sabotaging government services, and then goinng to their voters and saying "gee look at how badly the government functions. We need less of it." They do this because elected Republican politicians think their voters are so ignorant and easily duped that they can piss on their legs and tell them it's raining. They get away with it because they are correct. No one has more contempt for Republican voters than Republican politicians.
