Topic: US calls for shower rules to be eased after Trump complains about his "hair routine"

Anonymous A started this discussion 5 years ago #102,087

The US government has proposed changing the definition of a showerhead to allow increased water flow, following complaints from President Donald Trump about his hair routine.

Under a 1992 law, showerheads in the US are not allowed to produce more than 2.5 gallons (9.5l) of water per minute.

The Trump administration wants this limit to apply to each nozzle, rather than the overall fixture.

Consumer and conservation groups argue that it is wasteful and unnecessary.

The changes were proposed by the Department of Energy on Wednesday following complaints by Mr Trump at the White House last month.

"So showerheads - you take a shower, the water doesn't come out. You want to wash your hands, the water doesn't come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? Because my hair - I don't know about you, but it has to be perfect. Perfect," he said.

Oh my god, can you imagine letting adults make decisions about how much water they want to come out of their showerhead?

THE HORROR ?

The state should regulate all shower heads...

I think this whole thing is so weird. The only explanation that makes any sense to me is that specifically the showers at the White House are lower pressure than he's used to, and he is just assuming that is the case everywhere.

I wonder what Trump's "hair routine" is. Whatever it is, it's producing that, so it can't be too special.

What? But water is coming out. It's just apparently not enough for him? I don't understand how he finds it impossible to do his hair with 9.5L of water per minute. I just...really don't understand what the problem is.

Im imaging that the White House has old plumbing and poor water pressure, and he is connecting the issue

In drought areas, people can purchase low-flow showerheads or take a sponge bath or some shit. No one is stopping them.

Imagine the intellect of somebody who believes this guy can stop a pandemic by asking for different shower heads.

That's what I'm thinking, too. Otherwise he probably would have been complaining about this for a long time already. And he would never have been able to obtain his perfect hair.
I still don't understand how low water pressure prevents him from getting perfect hair, though.

I've bathed with jugs of water from a basin and could shampoo my hair fine like that. And I mean...we can all see his idea of "perfect hair".

Is this not part of his (and the Republicans) thing to erode energy-saving regulations? He's made similar statements about dishwashers and other household appliances, this seems to be another move on that front.

That is quite funny, actually. Yeah, all of these attacks on energy-saving laws seem to come with some weird anecdote about how a common household appliance is horrendously underperforming.

While I do live in a different country, I imagine our regulations on this stuff are broadly similar, and I can't relate to what he's saying at all.

Why would one carry a basin of water large enough to bathe with onto a boxcar? That would be very heavy. Seems more sensible to use baby wipes at that point.

He's retardedly failing at trying to make the equally retarded argument that people just take longer showers with those showerheads, so it doesn't do anything.
