They give me the illusion the week before that I have all weekend to work on the thing, but then inevitably I don't do it because I can just do it on Monday, but then on Monday I have all the other stuff that came up during the weekend to catch up on. Thanks.

Yes! This is very smart, because when you then set your deadline for Monday, you realize that the due date has already passed, and then you don't have to do it because you're already a day late!
