Nothing wrong with a few shortcuts

I try to keep my desktop clean with no shortcuts but eventually it gets cluttered just because it's a convenient location to save to so I figured I'll put the shortcuts inside of a folder shortcut which is basically what these three (excluding Firefox and Recycle Bin) happen to be. I think I might set a shortcut to documents though just for nostalgia purposes.

> Icons on the desktop > No rainmeters > No taskbar shortcuts that are worth a damn > Not hiding the search bar and Cortana despite them being shit, unnecessary addons to a worthless operating system that only gets used because of a borderline monopoly > Muted colors in the space photo, not even a really vibrant one
3/10, you can do better

You're so mad about basic desktop maintenance, I bet you save all your shit right there on the desktop. I bet you still have IE as your default browser. Bitch.

You can hide the search bar and Cortana? Didn't even know that.
Honestly I stopped giving a shit about ricing my desktop years ago. I think when I got win7 and litestep was a pain in the ass to use? Idk

I use the search bar actually. It’s kind of convenient compared to having to constantly click to get to where I need to go.

Huh. I don't like it. I know where my files are and don't like waiting for the search results to load.

If you're just looking for files on your own computer, I'd suggest replacing it with Everything, it indexes your files and is super fast by that standard. it doesn't look like dogshit, and isn't doing some heinous things with your files either.

The taskbar only has room for so much. You may want an easy way to access programs and files that are frequently used, but not frequently used enough to have a space on the taskbar.
Also you may have grown up in the old days (ie before Windows 7) back before you could pin stuff to the task bar and you continue doing it that way out of inertia.
Or, you might use desktop shortcuts because you value an uncluttered taskbar that just focuses on the stuff you are actually using at that particular time.
> You can hide the search bar and Cortana? Didn't even know that.
Oh god that's the first thing I do on any new Windows 10 machine. God I hate that shit and it takes up so much space. Also take off all that bullshit "tiles" on the start menu so it's streamlined.

Does it use the search bar on the taskbar?
Anonymous E replied with this 5 years ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,152,193

No, but you can pin it to your task bar and the window is really low-impact for such a strong program. Interaction-wise, it's the same series of inputs as opening the start menu and using the search there and it's lightning fast.

I remove Cortana and the search bar, then install Classic Start Menu immediately, tbh.
