To make sense of this you have to realize Trump and his movement is a new departure for the Republican party. The question you're asking is a bit like "how do Democrats feel about George Wallace's support for segregation in the 1960s?" The answer of course is that today's Democratic Party is basically the exact opposite of the pre-LBJ Democratic Party. George Wallace was a Democrat. He was a segregationist. But the George Wallace of the '60s (he did later disavow racism in the late '70s after becoming a born-again Christian) would have absolutely no place in the Democratic Party of 2020.
Hopefully, if we continue MAGA, scum like Newt Gingrich will have no place in the Republican Party of the 2020s.
