I would say it blurs our ethics, compartmentalizes our social interactions, and has an adverse effect on empathy.

The exact relationship between technology and ethics is a matter of contention, however; While it is true that a sequence of unlinked utterances can make sense, [Dropping Technology out of the picture] it is often the case that some form of linking, e.g. with ethics such as and, but, so, can make it easier for social interaction & empathy may follow to process and to make sense of what interaction, we may or may not have.

Ethics is a grey area. It's already blurry, but the interactions of multiple ethical systems around the world make for a lot of necessary compromises. Compromising your ethics whittles away the blacks and whites.
Social interaction is already fairly compartmentalized and social networking gives us a nice neat cubby in which to tuck away whomever we like.
Empathy, or social emotions, must be nurtured. Isolation limits development of empathy in children, so empathy is something that we must 'learn to feel' and we can only do that by having tight, close nit communities that rely on social emotions to maintain stability. But, empathy is no longer a necessary requirement and can be quite a hindrance. Quite a large population already exists that lack empathy and in incredibly large communities it might be selected against evolutionarily.
