The professional Baseball Leage does a thing at the beginning of each season where they have some celebrity or other-
'Throw the first pitch' It's an informal ceremony of sorts that the Pro Baseball has done traditionally for years.
They come out to the pitcher's mound right before the game and throw one pitch to the catcher. That starts the season.
