Kenwood has always made quality stuff. Seems like there is nothing that radio doesn't do.

I am not a fan of Kenwood decks, the buttons stop working after a year or so, but they make pretty good amps.
Sony decks tend to explode with external amps, by that I mean they get hot and you hear a loud pop, then your deck is dead. brings a whole new meaning to Xplod.
If you are looking at a deck, I recommend Pioneer, Alpine or JVC. Pioneer and Alpine are top quality brands; I have seen old Pioneer tape decks from the 90's plug in and still work like new. JVC is a better mid quality brand over Sony and Kenwood IMO, but its your money.
In any case, stay away from Dual decks, Unless you like getting a new deck because the CD player burns out.

Pioneer makes some good shit. My bro used to have one in his MR2. I liked it. Now he gotta dual in his xB,not a big fan of it. Takes forever to start up, for $700 he can't even watch a DVD on it. It's kinda lame to be honest. Also, I didn't buy a deck like the one I posted at first because I was afraid the volume knob would break. My friend got one similar to it with the same design, but it seems to be holding up well.

If you like the Kenwood deck, get it. Their top end stuff is great, but it really hurts the wallet, its their low end stuff that gives them such a bad rap.

My first deck was a Dual with a motorized faceplate. The CD player went out first, then the faceplate stopped moving. I was pissed.

I gotcha. It's an impact on the wallet, yes, but I know that I'll have it for a long time especially because so many features. Definitely a keeper for future cars.
Polk Audio is amazing in my opinion. They had a bad batch of subs and amps this past year, but meh. Warranty saved my ass, that's why I always buy 'em. I cost best buy over $1200 in exchanges. Their DXi112 ported subwoofer sounds like 3 tens to me. Extremely crisp and sounds great. I still want to buy their speakers to replace the stocks in my car. I'd get the db651 for front and db651s for my rear deck. Very good reviews on em.
The ones I'm afraid of the most are those ones that motorize a full 7" screen. Always afraid I'll break it.
