His school, like many others, will be doing in-person and/or online classes which he will attend like a hundred million other kids his age this Fall. This is the least exciting "story" ever.

The reason it's a story is because Trump has been threatening to pull federal funding from schools if they don't reopen for in-person classes in the fall. But his own son's school is doing online or only having a small amount of students go to class in shifts.

It's just more evidence of Trump not caring about his citizens to any degree at all, unless they happen to be his son

Trump actually can't cut very much at all because the president can't stop money that's been appropriated by Congress. Even if he could, the Federal government only contributes 8.3% of the funding for K-12 education, the other 92.7% being state/local taxes. So even the absolute worst case scenario would be about an 8% cut. Which I think would be entirely doable considering schools are closed and have lower expenses.

That decision hasn't even been made yet by Barron's school. You and OP are getting outraged over a hypothetical that may or may not even happen.

I'm not outraged, why do you think I am? It's just, as dw says,

And how much of that do you think goes to trying to catch them, jailing them, and deporting them? That shit's not cheap.
@1,146,717 (F)
See, you're supposed to look at that and say "we should spend more on the children," not "we should spend less on undocumented immigrants."

Biden says he will enforce a moratorium on deportations.
And he says he will give all current illegals voting rights.

That will save a lot of money, just like you said you wanted.

I'm not sure how much university and K-12 funding are comparable. The one big difference I think would be school transportation which I don't think most colleges provide, or at least not anything like what schools do because adult students are expected to figure out their own transportation. Of course transportation would not be needed for online classes.
