It's very expensive to live in (my dad wouldn't mind helping me get set up until I get established tbf, since he wants me there) and regardless it's just such a big thing to up and move to a different continent. I'll have my family but I'll lose the support system I've painstakingly built in Montréal, and as much as I love my family I can't confide in them the same way. And having a dog and cat makes things even harder. I think I'd leave my cat with my boyfriend, but my dog needs to be with me.
I wouldn't mind going for a finite period of time, even if it's an extended period of time like six months or whatever, but I couldn't live there.

Yeah that's fair enough, you're right about the difficulty in leaving your homeland and the people and pets you love. I emigrated when I was a bit younger than you are now and it was an extremely difficult decision to leave behind all I'd built and start over.
