Topic: There's a difference between "pro-life" and "pro-birth."

Anonymous A started this discussion 5 years ago #101,456

Why are so-called “pro-life” people silent when it comes to children in cages, cutting medical benefits to the poor, forcing children back to school during a pandemic, bombing cities and villages in far-away lands, the mistreatment of minorities, and a host of other state-sponsored policies that are anything but pro-life? At some point, you’d think they’d understanding there’s more to being pro-life than just forcing women to have children, which isn’t being pro-life at all, but pro-birth.

Because those children should pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

In seriousness, it's about control and punishment. Control over womens' reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. This is made obvious when you realise how many anti-abortion legislators have had abortions (or their wives have). They always have extenuating circumstances and deserve an abortion but all those poor black women just should have accepted that having sex can lead to an 18 year sentence. They also treat children as a punishment, which is...bizarre.

For being the party of small government, they sure like being inside the uterus of every female constituent.

To be fair, a large government wouldn't so conveniently fit into womens' twats. ?

Yes, I was thinking that. Maybe that's how they fit through the cervix.

But yeah - "pro-life" is a serious misnomer. They don't give a shit about human life.

Because as soon as you're born Republicans stop giving a shit about you until you reach military age. They don't give a fuck about 'the sanctity of life', they just want to chain women to an animal cycle of reproduction and become broodmares for the United States military. To dress it up as noble they appeal to the backwards-assed moral philosophy of 2nd century desert tribes.

Arguing with anti-autonomy people on their own terms is batshit and stupid. It's like trying to convince a 15-year-old atheist that Santa Claus exists.

And then, when you hit military age and decide to enlist, they also cease to give a solitary toss. They don't care about servicemen or women, nor about veterans.

There are many other ways that people are controlled, but they're not as dramatic so nobody talks about them. It's not only women whom are controlled

This is obvious and irrelevant to her point, which was about the control over women's reproductive rights; an issue that does, in fact, only affect women.

Democrats are the real pro-life. This unedited comment brought to you by Meta. Thank you.

Let's go whole hog and split into separate races, like the feminists of the 80s and 90s wanted. When we become interplanetary we can go our own ways and end like some scrub races in a StarTrack episode where each of the races diverged into having slightly different face ridges and social structures

Yes, let's address real examples of oppression today by modelling ourselves on hypothetical Star Trek scenarios several millennia from now.

It's 2020. You must express your political policy in terms of Star Wars, Harry Potter, or Marvel superhero movies.

Republicans are Slytherin and --Hillary-- Biden is Dumbledore. Or something like that.

Yes, obviously. At no point did I say that only women are controlled and only through anti-abortion laws.
But this post is about how women are controlled through anti-abortion laws.

I just thought it would be more fun if we took it offtopic
