I have a feeling it's just companies taking legal pot-shots at one another. Tech companies do this all the time.

Incidentally, patent-troll shit like this is why dreamy, idealistic arguments about how the patent system encourages innovation and promotes competition ring so hollow nowadays and shouldn't be taken seriously.
