it's a 93 fresh import Pajero 3door wide with a v6 and it's automatic, super clean and has cool switch em up 4wd and only 76000 km on it
asking 12, flat, no tax and I want to put like 4500 down
is this wise
Anonymous C replied with this 5 years ago, 39 seconds later, 12 minutes after the original post[^][v]#1,141,596
27 years old, 76,000 miles
$4500 down payment is more than what the car is worth.

76k mi is really not much. I was struggling to find cars with less than 150k km with a $6k budget.

The other thing I notice on the old Mitsubishis is they're all missing letters off the back so it says MI SUBI HI or some shit on the back ?
I don't know what the deal is with the oil burning tho. I don't see the same problem in other Jap cars of the same vintage ?

@OP
I wouldn't do it mainly because driving an RHD car in America (you mentioning import and the odometer in km seems to indicate it's a JDM car) seems like it would be just too weird because all the traffic in America is set up for LHD cars.
Also even though it is low mileage, cars age over time regardless. Rubber gaskets turn to goop or dry rot, plastic gets brittle.

Only if you have experience with old cars and know what you are getting into. Not as your daily if you need it to get to work etc. Fucking great for weekend fun with friends, but you're probably more of a Honda Accord type of person really.
Do you know how to fix electrical quirks, replace a timing belt, or diagnose a vacuum leak?
Also old jap imports are notorious for either having the clocks wound back to match the paint, or for having low km's and huge traffic hours on the engines.
Low mileage cars have either been sitting idling in traffic with weird engine wear, or have been stored for years so the running gear has perished and you need to replace the suspension bushes, fuel lines, brake components etc.
But yeah, my friend has a 3 door 4wd V6 Pajero and he loves it.

Anyone here had a 27 year old car that was reliable?

Annnnd that has nothing to do with the fact that it's difficult to find cars with less than 150'000km with a budget of $6'000. Of course rust is also a huge problem up here which also limits a car's lifespan.

Ok. I talked to my friend and his Pajero is a 98 diesel, and he has had 2 earlier petrol V6's so if it's one of those he said to expect to take the head off at some point because the valve stem seals are a common problem.
