Topic: Family member has passed away. Don't know how to deal with it.

Anonymous A started this discussion 5 years ago #101,085

I've never had to deal with this in my life before, despite being near 30. I am laughing remembering the good times and crying and don't know if this is normal. I don't know how to console my family either. I also feel numb and it doesn't feel true. This sounds sociopathic, but as a kid I would be envious of other kids who had lost someone as they would get attention and gifts etc. I knew this was a selfish thing to think back then. Now I'm older, I am so, so glad I have had all these extra decades with the people I love. All those memories, all the advice is worth more than any gifts or attention. I am so grateful for all these extra years now, I just wish I could've had more time with them ;_; anyone who has been through this that has any words of advice/comfort?

Sorry, bud. :( It's never easy. Talking helped me more than anything. And time.

Thank you. I don't know why it just hit me like a ton of bricks now and I've never cried this much in my life Before.

It hurts. What hurts even more, is when people on this very chan stalk and mock your deceased loved ones, and post fucked up pictures of them. Imagine how that feels.

I'm so sorry bud. Be gentle with yourself. It takes time. And what ninjj said - you just have to do it.

Stop making this about yourself. This is about OP and their loss. Make a separate thread to cry about your thing if you want but don't shit up this one.

I read something about this online before.
When you become grief stricken, just think of them in their underwear.

You really think this is the best thread for this?
