I had an opportunity to get a haircut shortly before I went home for break from my boarding school, but I passed it up. It has been four months since then, and my hair is almost four inches long now.

I cut and dye my own hair usually. I've been growing it for the past year and a half, just keeping my bangs trimmed. It's a fair bit past my shoulders.
When my current hair colour fades out/i get bored of it, I'm finally gonna pay someone for a proper cut. $100 for a cut and dye and she's really good. I wanna go super light bleach blonde but it's so easy to fuck up and I don't want to risk it.

Yeah no I've heard women mention it in passing before and I basically never hear anything less than $100. Which is insane! Thats like 5 haircuts + tips for me. Idk how they put up with that!

Ah yeah I'd start cutting my hair at that point as well. How long have you been cutting your own hair and how long did it take to get good at it? Did you need to buy any special scissors or anything for it?
It's not on a strict schedule or anything. It's just whenever I feel it gets too long. Usually that's when my hair starts getting near my eyes. I'd say every 2 months or so I get it cut, so 6 times a year on average. I'm usually not thrilled with how it looks also, so maybe that's another reason to do it myself. I'll hate it less if I get to control the entire process.

I've been cutting my hair for about six years. I've been reasonably happy with most of my work but it's only recently that I've consistently been able to get my bangs super straight/even. (hint: hold small chunks of hair and cut upwards or nearly upwards. Much more forgiving than cutting across).
Any small sharp scissors will do but they do make hair scissors. I've been considering getting thinning scissors to put layers in my hair but there's no point yet if I'm gonna pay this girl for a cut.
Oh every two months isn't bad. I know guys who go to the barber every two weeks. What style do you want? And what do you usually end up getting?

Every 2 weeks??? That's so often, damn. Unless you are INCREDIBLY specific about the way you look, there is no reason to go that often. And if you are, then chill out and spend your money on other things instead, imo. I honestly don't have a style! I just go and tell them to take an inch or an inch and a 1/4 off and have them style it however. I just have it look...conventional? Idk, I'm not really much into fashion as you can tell. If you can't settle on a style you want, maybe take the time to flip through a style book with your hairdresser and ask their advice on what would suit you, so you can decide on a style together?

Eh i just want a trim (get rid of split ends) and some layers. I like the length, even though long hair is a fucking pain in the ass. Gotta brush it, gotta wash it more often. But i can do more stuff with it! Ponytail, double ponytails, one bun, two buns, the half-your-hair-in-a-ponytail thing, just leave it down. It looks good. And in the winter long hair helps keep your ears warm. I just want the bleach blonde :D
