Topic: Do you think it's safe to get the bus (UK)?

Anonymous A started this discussion 5 years ago #101,041

I want to get the bus but a wee bit scared.

Busses stopped validating/selling tickets here, and there's caution tape around the front of the bus so nobody gets close to the driver. You get on/off from the back door. Neat.

Yeah, probably. But you are still legally required to wear a face mask or covering.

Once you get a bus, what do you plan to do with it? ?

Bus parties, duh.

If I got a bus I would probably convert the top deck (assuming a UK bus) to a home, and the bottom deck to an office so I could work. If I needed to go to the store or something, it would be really convenient because I could just get out of bed and walk down to the driver's seat and drive to the store. Then when I'm done shopping I don't have to "drive home" because I am home. In the Walmart parking lot. Or wherever I happen to stop the bus. You basically live in your car, but like a good version of living in your car.

That actually sounds decent, but the trouble comes when you have to find a parking space for your bushomeoffice™.

There's this vacant store/parking lot that used to be a Sears appliance store but is now kind of derelict and abandoned with a faded "for lease" sign on it since it closed two years ago. I would park the bushomeoffice™ there.

That might work, as long as the 5-0 don't get on your case.

I'll just get a vinyl wrap of a made-up construction company on the bus and park it right near the front of the store and they'll think a construction crew is in there renovating it or something.

But what if the owner drives by?

Walmarts are usually safe!

Camper vans are good for that. I just helped someone buy one, and one day I'd love to have one myself. Not for a while though, I was uncomfortable driving the minivan and a camper is obvs way bigger. I also knew a lesbian who travelled in her Winnebago, dubbed the Babe-o, which is just cute.

Yes but wear a mask, stay socially distanced and don't pay with cash.
