Like 40 people caught it from one bar alone

The bars really should have been closed a long time ago.

I think that they could stay open with strict rules, perhaps

Rules like? And no matter what the rules are, drunk people are very bad at following rules, especially when many of them don't even believe that covid is a threat or are angry about having their freedoms infringed upon

The staff would have to enforce them, like any open establishment

I don't foresee that going well tbh. If the customers get mad about it they'll forcefully cough on the employees or something. And employees shouldn't have to do that for a job that can legally pay them less than $3/hour (yes, tips, i know. but if the customer is mad about the rules they're not going to tip. And Florida seems to have a lot of people who don't give a fuck about corona)

I don't know if people are less careful here or not. How to quantify? I do know that we have a shit ton of old people and rapidly increasing testing though
I also don't think that minimum wage earners should have to enforce these rules, but they already do in various stores and restaurants
Either way, Im not a drinker and am not bothered by it

At least store workers make a much higher minimum wage. But I agree that they should not have to deal with that. But customers at a bar will be drinking and more belligerent.
Also I'm basing that on the lack of lockdown, really lack of reaction at all, to the virus. I remember seeing pictures of Florida's crowded beaches a few months ago. As well as the positive correlation between Republican voters and virus disbelievers. It's nearly July. Lockdown started in i think march or april here and that was late.

Lockdown had been going on here for as long as that as well, they just hadn't included the bars

Then what did lockdown consist of? Leaving the bars open is a huge oversight. Drunk people aren't going to social distance.

All the bars were closed for several weeks and just recently open in a few places. The stupid people couldn't refrain from acting stupidly.
“The moment bars opened, people abused it. You would walk down the strip and look at these bars and be like, ‘man, did the pandemic not happen?,’” Hernández says. “Now, these bars are crickets.”

They closed down schools, gyms, salons and barbers, movie theaters, many restaurants, many doctors offices, most non essential job places, and most bars that didn't make at least 50% of sales in food. Most everything was shut down around me. And this has been like that from the beginning and hasn't just started for us. They also stoped visitors to hospitals, retirements homes, and other medical facilities. Once again, for months now

Remember, protesters can't get Covid because they are doing it for a good cause
