The theory is it's bad not because of what it says but because supposedly it's pushed by racists on 4chan. The same people who turned a cartoon frog of all things into a hate symbol.
"It's okay to be white" doesn't sound particularly racist. It says nothing about other races, or whether it's better or worse to be white than some other race. It's not even saying it's good to be white, just that it's "okay". When you say something is "okay" you mean it more or less meets expectations but isn't exceptional. Better than mediocre but not as good as good.
The message itself is so terribly bland and neutral yet it causes such a reaction.
