He drank water using only one hand today too so I'm pretty sure he is the greatest president ever tbh.

He's like 75 I think but yeah. He's definitely on the decline. He'll be dead or severely impaired by 2030. @previous (chill dog !!81dzJNNYL)
It's just depressingly beyond parody. Trump gets fawning praise for drinking water out of a fucking cup. Oh and by the way 120,000 Americans have died in the last 3 months. I'm so incredibly tired of the immense stupidity everyone has to subscribe to in order to pretend he isn't an enormous failure of a President and a human being.

I think Trump waited way too long to run for President. Trump running in 2000 would have been much better. So we get the old, tired, declining Trump. This is still infinitely better than no Trump but America deserved Trump in his prime.

125,000 dead from a pandemic that isn't ending any time soon and 30 million unemployed and you STILL think he's a good President? Literally what.

American coronavirus deaths per capita, at 387 per million population, are pretty close (within 10%) to the Netherlands (356) and Ireland (351) and significantly better than Sweden (523), France (456), the UK (641), Italy (574), Spain (606), and Belgium (840) and don't seem to be uniquely bad by Western developed country standards. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Excluding Andorra and San Marino, who combined have a population of like 12 people, we are the 7th worst in the world in death rate, and our cases per million are like top 5 worst in the world. We are uniquely fucking this up. 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's dead and 25% of the world's cases. It is insane that you are defending this, not to mention the way he said we would have it totally under control like 4 months ago and it's getting worse day after day.

How do you take "we're number 5th/7th per capita" and translate that into "uniquely fucking this up"? America is first in total cases but on any per capita measure is not the worst, or even second/third worst.
I'm not saying America did an outstanding job of containing COVID. I've never said that. I'm not even defending Trump. I just don't see the data indicating America is uniquely bad when you adjust for population size.
@1,137,979 (dw)
America has higher population density than Sweden and also significantly fewer covid deaths per capita.

Idk, something about the U.S. being bottom 5 in the world in its response to the worst pandemic in 100 years rubs me the wrong way. It is sort of difficult to comprehend just how badly the U.S. bungled this, and Trump is overseeing all of this while saying it's under control and holding fucking rallies during it. It's absolutely deranged.

Those aren't rallies, they are protests and therefore they are not only fine but actually encouraged.

There's also the federal/state division and even different counties within the same state having different responses which I don't think a lot of other countries have to deal with. You can have states going in opposite directions with policy (like New York and Texas) which I don't think, say, the UK or France has in their system.

Yeah he knows, he is just trying to imply some kind of hypocrisy between people who support having protests but don't support having rallies. You need to be pretty terminally online to understand his point though so it really says more about him than it does about other people. @1,137,988 (Meta !Sober//iZs)
States? The UK is comprised of several different countries each of which have their own government and their own government run healthcare system. Do you think America is the only country in the world with regional delegations of authority? I want to shove pencils directly into my eyeballs. @previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)
Rallies are terrible. Indoor, everyone packed together like sardines, it's awful. Protests I can at least conceive of how you could do that without creating a superspreader event (outdoors, masks, social distancing) but I also think those are extremely risky.

Yeah Sweden was way worse with locking down than the us, but at least they have decent mechanisms in place to deal with the economic setbacks from this virus which the us totally lack.

Canada also has provinces which handle their own health care and pandemic measures. Cities also have their own pandemic measures.
