The only way to achieve peace in the middle east is to have full open borders for Israel and make it become more multicultural and build more mosques.
The obvious recommendations in here are Celeste, Night in the Woods, and minit, being indie darlings from the last couple years but here's some smaller ones:
- Sewer Rave has SUCH a delirious tone, it kicks ass.
- Apple Quest Monsters DX is a fun book, I bought the physical version a while ago and all of the things in it are delightful.
- 10S and WATER'S FINE by owch are the two games by this dev I haven't played, my favorite game of hers,
long live the axe went free a while ago so it's not in here.
- Anodyne is a weird one, it's a zelda-like that's also a surreal horror for the most part? I didn't finish it but that's mostly because the Switch port is awful.
- Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor
- Quadrilateral Cowboy is a game about hacking, and then breaking and entering. Its environments are all super cool, considering the restrictions of Blendo's papercraft-y lowpoly house style.
- Jumpgrid has the highest ratio of intensity to game simplicity I've ever played and its soundtrack is all bangers.
- Oh shit, Pyre's in this one? Pyre was made by Supergiant, who did previous indie darlings Bastion and Transistor and is currently working on Hades. Pyre's like a hybrid visual novel and 3-on-3 basketball simulator. It's gorgeous to look at, of course.
- PICO-8 is a novelty toy for gamedevs, it's the number one fantasy console at the moment and it's a very well-contained and well-supported little thing. If you know Lua give it a shot, it's a lot of fun, somehow.
That's all I've got since scrolling further is killing my computer.
Heavy Bullets is a great roguelite shooter with a neat aesthetic.
Nuclear Throne is by Vlambeer so is probably good.
It also has Bleed 2 which I didn't even know about. Bleed 1 was a great shooter/platformer with great music.

wow apple quest monsters looks like it was straight ripped from earthbound, v neat

Nuclear Throne kicks ass too, it's a bit fast-paced for me but it's like, objectively a really well put together game. It's got a great neo-Western/rap tone and some phenomenal character designs.

this is skeletris. its like a kind of basic roguelike except you die when you fill your inventory with tetrominoes or something

i died at the third level. and yeah that seems to be vlambeers thing like kind of simple games but really well polished and stuff

u decide who goes to heaven in this game but im not sure what the point is
