Civilian oversight boards, requirements that cops live within the city limits of the police department, more financial investment in minority communities, better screening of potential cops, better and more consistent training of police with an emphasis on de-escalation, alternatives to cops including investments in mental healthcare facilities and drug addiction centers, etc.
