- Maybe their cause is righteous so God is protecting the lefties.
- What coronavirus? I thought you said that was a hoax?
- Rioting and looting actually cures coronavirus! This is solid proof. God is sending us a message telling everyone to stand up and be counted instead of waiting for a vaccine.
Honestly, I think the premise is faulty. You wouldn't see so many masks if anyone thought COVID-19 was really gone. That's obviously not the case. I know it's a hard pill to swallow that American citizens could be so legitimately disillusioned in their government that they will tolerate risking their lives to voice their displeasure and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. It's funny to watch the mental gymnastics some people have to go through to deny that Americans could ever hold that principle as fundamental.
It's tempting for some to blame protests on... something, anything, anything else rather than have to deal with the fact that those people are protesting because they feel their government has abandoned them and has abandoned any pretense at keeping the rule of law. Heaven forbid we acknowledge that some people feel wronged. There must be some ulterior motive or conspiracy behind it all that we can blame it on instead in order to distract from how the current system has failed these people. Yes, that's a more comforting thought than having to admit that the government is doing a bad job.

It's almost weird how all those statements fall in line perfectly with how poverty and systemic, generational socioeconomic oppression puts black people on an uneven playing field in regard to health, well being, and opportunity. I'm pretty sure that COVID-19 hitting poorer, predominantly black communities is likely proof that the government's effort to control the spread of the pandemic is only working for the wealthier communities. If I didn't know better I would guess you were highlighting the fact that blacks in the US really are disadvantaged.
