As far as I'm aware, you can't catch coronavirus through a twitter post. It just makes you look like a tryhard because you can take a PFP without wearing a face covering at home. UGH.

Yeah, I think it's mostly just harmless fun. The virus has leaked into a lot of the present-day popular culture now, so this is just an extension of that.

Look, lad, I need to be awake in case Bert tries to mutiny again. He nearly succeed when he attempted it yesterday, and was only stopped because I was there to say that mutinies break the rules and are rude.
