Apple should take over the US government. Hilarity would ensue.

I can tell by the pixels that you both are mad. Atm. I'm living in Croatia, before that was Slovenia, before that was Germany and before that wasn't important, since I had no influence over it.
"Ongoing ethnic cleansing" was sooo 1995. Croatia is over that by now... atm. political corruption and high ranked politician affairs are a trendy topic beside Mirjana and Nemeš ofc.
I for one, know that Croatia is in deeper shit than for example Greece, Italy or well, even USA... but hey, I'm not a patriotic Croatian nut (not even my Nationality is Croatian) and oh... Croatia doesn't brag about being the most powerful nation... lol

What does that have to do with the fact that Apple owns more physically printed cash than the USA?

That won't really be relevant once you default your debts, your credit rating sky rockets and you become China's sock puppet.

Not gonna happen, this is all just a political game between Democrats and Republicans, nothing more.

I see it like this:
If you're making $1200/month, but you're spending $2000/month, and you run out of credit, you don't call your credit card company and beg them to increase your spending limit. You cut your fucking spending. People say that if we don't raise the debt limit, we may have to cut spending by as much as 40%. Well, we should probably cut our spending by 40 fucking percent then.

You're right, but we've put ourselves over a barrel now, there's nothing to do but raise the debt limit. If only spending got half the attention that this bullshit fiasco is getting, maybe we wouldn't be in this mess.

I agree. I've been ranting and raving about how much government spending is out of control for the past 5 years, and no one believes me. Now people hear a number like 40% when it comes to balancing the budget, and they can't believe it's gotten out of control. I would only support a measure to increase the debt limit if it included a clause to cut spending by 40% over the next 2 years or something like that.

10% spending cut per year should be perfectly reasonable to anyone, closing tax loopholes for the super-rich wouldn't hurt either. This issue is about debt and nothing else, spending will continue to increase like it always has, people only care about real issues like gay marriage and shit lololol. Fuck my fellow Americans.

Some sort of solid, permanent spending limit needs to be put in place to keep the government from getting out of control like this ever again. I say that spending should not be allowed to exceed 20% of the GDP, or something like that.

A balanced budget amendment was a good idea, but many said it wouldn't make a difference, I dunno why it wouldn't, maybe I missed something. Btw they just came to agreement on the debt deal.

They're full of shit. That's like a car dealer saying "the bottom line doesn't matter, just worry about making the monthly payments." The government needs a real limit on what they can spend.
Exactly what sort of deal was reached?

I dunno, I haven't heard any details yet, just heard the announcement on the radio.
